Rachel Carter

Potter Rachel Carter creates porcelain domesticware for people who share her love of craft and design.

Her serene, well-balanced forms are thrown on her potteräó»s wheel. No two objects are the same. Each piece is unique, showing hints of the making process, throwing, turning, glazing and firing. Although her work looks delicate, it is functional and designed for everyday use and appreciation.

As an artist Rachel strives to make work that enhances peopleäó»s lives while using methods that are gentle on the planet. Her pieces bring a calm beauty to their environments, whether stacked on a shelf or giving pleasure in their feel. They are handcrafted to enrich the rituals of daily life.

Rachel has been working with clay since 2005. After completing her Diploma in Ceramic Arts she began working in the studio of renowned New Zealand potter Peter Collis. Today she works from her home studio set amongst the tranquil Titirangi bush.
