Ian Kingstone

Ian Kingstone’s curiously surreal narrative paintings are well worth the visit to home studio among the trees of Titirangi Village. Ian has an inventive style, representative of various aspects of everyday life, connected with a simplistic symbolism. Facial expressions are subtle, while symbolic of a range of emotions. The stylised people forms are phantasmal portraits combining a softness with stark reality.
Ian Kingstone was born in Auckland in 1942 and attended Camden Art Centre, London.
