Karen Jarvis Painting and Photography
New Artist
Searching, oil on canvas. Karen Jarvis
Karen Jarvis is a painter and photographer whose work explores memory, people and the everyday. Moving between painting and photography, she is interested in the way images can hold fragments of experience and suggest stories beyond what is immediately visible.
Her paintings draw on photographs, both found and personal, exploring colour, form and narrative to create images that feel familiar yet slightly elusive. Her photography reflects a similar interest in people, place and the small details of ordinary life.
Visitors to Karen’s Titirangi studio can see a selection of paintings and photographic work, and purchase photographic prints alongside reFRAMED and Lost and Found, her art and photography books published through Little Artbook Press.
Karen will also be showing examples of her Photobook Memoirs – bespoke books combining contemporary portrait photography with family photographs, memories and stories to create a lasting portrait of a person or family.
