Te Tararā Artisan Jewellery Studio
New Artist
Rex has been collecting semi-precious stones from around Aotearoa since he was a teenager. He also buys stone 'in the rough' from around the world and fashions these with silver and gold into bespoke pieces in his Oratia studio.
His creations are entirely handcrafted using traditional methods. He crafts bespoke and unique pieces that combine his lapidary and metalwork skills. Many of his creations are made from stones he sources himself at locations around New Zealand. You will find earrings, rings, necklaces and bracelets in carnelian, jasper, pounamu, lapis lazuli, chrysoprase, and many other gemstones, all crafted with silver and gold.
The studio is next door to Bodega Eatery and The Shed Collective Farmers Market (Saturday morning only).
Visitors are welcome to drive through the Bodega Eatery car par and park right in front of the studio (through the black fence and gate). You will find Rex in the studio, crafting his next beautiful piece.
If visiting Piha, drop in to Piha Community Art Gallery (next to the fire station), where you will find a selection of Rex's work.
