Darkugh on Paint
New Artist
Plastered - aka the three no's
Painting as ‘darkugh’, Daryl creates bright, stylised, graffiti‑infused mixed‑media work that blend illustration, character design, and bold colour. His pieces are known for expressive faces, confident linework, and a playful sense of movement, giving each artwork a lively, character‑driven presence.
Working with inks, acrylics, markers, printed materials and spray‑paint, darkugh builds vibrant pieces that pop from a distance and reward close viewing. He paints onto wood and other found objects rather than canvas, giving each work a tactile, grounded feel.
Daryl began selling his work at the Titirangi Market more than 20 years ago and has steadily refined a distinctive visual style that feels both urban and illustrative. The heart of his practice remains consistent: making pictures that feel joyful, immediate, and full of personality.
In today’s AI‑shaped world, this original, genuine, imperfect art offers something refreshing. A range of work from both this year and the past decade will be on site.
