Helen Dean

Originally from the U.K., Helen has called New Zealand home since 2003. After completing a Fine Art degree in the U.K., she returned to painting in 2015 after a long hiatus, following a move from Auckland city life to the natural surroundings of the Waitākere Ranges.

Working from her studio in Titirangi, Helen creates contemporary abstract paintings through layers of colour, form and gesture. Her work develops intuitively, with each layer building on the last to create movement, balance and depth.

Since returning to painting, Helen has exhibited in galleries and shows throughout New Zealand, and her work can be found in homes across New Zealand and internationally. She creates original paintings and commissions, and has collaborated with interior designers and brands. Her projects include a major commission of ten large paintings for Horizon Hotel by SkyCity.
