Jenny Tomlin is a passionate pinhole photographer making cameras from recycled objects from matchboxes to wheelie bins, also photograms and lumens. Visitors can expect demonstration of practice, works in progress, as well as limited editions and prints for sale.

Karen Jarvis is a painter and photographer whose work explores memory and unspoken narratives. Visitors can see paintings and photos, purchase prints and copies of her art and photography books, and view samples of her Photobook Memoir work.

Ceramic artist Karen Kennedy creates brightly painted animal sculptures with a playful, comic edge, while Pauline Allpress makes colourful beaded jewellery and decorative pieces. These artists will be joined by Neena Buksh with her Pottery and home made produce.

Established Auckland artist Katherine Simpson creates layered contemporary paintings that explore the relationship between abstraction, landscape and subtle figurative forms. With a painting practice spanning many years and a return to exhibiting in 2026, her space offers visitors an insight into her evolving process of building, removing and revealing layers. Original works will be available to view and purchase.

Kris is a self taught artist, painting landscapes en plein air using chalk pastels. Her inspiration is being in nature, capturing the interplay of colour and form and the changing energy that animates it.

Karin has been working as a glass artist since 1989, including lamp shades, windows, mirrors, sculptures and jewellery. The curvilinear shapes found in nature form the basis for her functional, contemporary glass art. Visitors to Karin’s studio will see her tiffany/copper-foil work being demonstrated.

A multi-media environmental artist who lives in Karekare, Mandy has a passionate relationship with her local environment. Her current work focuses largely on deforestation and habitat loss in New Zealand, and the plight of many endangered native species. 

Maxine works with textile art forms, abstract canvases, sculpture and ceramics, entering into exhibitions each year. Her recent work focuses on contemporary tribal people and oversized textile and ceramic fish wall hangings. Maxine’s work is found in foyers, restaurants, private and corporate collections throughout the world.

Maria’s ceramic practice is rooted in a love of slow making, simplicity, and the quiet beauty of imperfection. Working from her home studio, she creates small-batch, hand-built pottery, with each piece shaped and decorated individually and carrying its own unique character. Pieces will be available for purchase, along with some seconds and bargains.

A significant site for New Zealand’s contemporary arts. The 1950s home of acclaimed artist Colin McCahon, with an adjacent artist’s residency. Visitors can enjoy a tour of the Museum. 

Melissa Hastings is a ceramicist working from her Shaw Road Ceramics studio in Oratia. Creating functional stoneware and sculptural vessels shaped by a quiet dialogue between the natural world and design. Working in a palette of soft earthy tones, her forms are gentle yet inquisitive, bringing texture, light and a sense of calm to everyday rituals. One off pieces will be available for purchase, as well as some samples and seconds especially for the weekend.

Michelle Huizinga is a multi-media sculptor working predominantly with clay and fibre. Michelle finds beauty in dilapidation and decay and this is reflected in much of her work. Most of her work comprises of sculptural vessels with weaving but during the Open Studios Michelle also has a range of domestic wares available . Visitors can view old and new projects, as well as works in progress.

Monique has been painting for around 30 years, with much of her work inspired by West Auckland’s landscapes, flora and fauna. Over the years, her paintings have received numerous awards in art competitions.

Hayden & Janel have created a cohesive mix of workshops at their Swanson home. With an industrial vibe that draws creativity from the ranges & the people that visit - it is a calm & energy re-building space that nurtures growth & connection.

Pauline McCoy is an established ceramicist based in Titirangi. There will be a variety of functional ware for sale over the weekend, such as mugs, jugs and bowls.

Peter Force is a figurative artist whose work explores the weight and presence of singular objects. Lone subjects that act as visual anchors surrounded by noise or at times, resting in near-empty space. Primarily working with charcoal, soft pastel and oils, Peter employs bold and expressive mark making to lend weight and ground his artworks. 

Anieszka is a designer and illustrator whose work has moved from paper to wax. At Poppy + Sage she sculpts and casts beeswax candles by hand, from stacking forms to little sculptural pieces, bringing the colour and playfulness of her illustration years into every one. Her studio is chaotic, colourful and full of magic and mayhem. Visit to watch candles in the making and maybe even take a piece home.

Ronald Boersen is a potter, ceramic artist, glaze nerd, and educator. In his ceramic work he explores the materiality of clay – freezing a moment of creation in fire. His pots are functional in nature, though hope to evoke an experience beyond the mere utilitarian, exploring touch and texture. 

Post Objects is the collaboration between makers/designers, Simon Oosterdijk and Elizabeth Wilson. Their candle design practice observes the forces of nature and the movement of matter. Actions are caught in the moment and captured using a combination of computer simulations and hand building. Post Objects will be joined by Ceramicist Liz Wycherley.
